Instructions for schools

These instructions are important for the safety of our staff and the participants from your school.

Please read them carefully.

Go to the First Step

1. Choose the Chefs

Before we arrive, please choose two teachers to take the role of Head Chef on our teams, and four enthusiastic pupils to be their team mates.

That’s one teacher and two pupils per team (2 Teams).

Next Step

2. Arrange Access

Please arrange for access to the venue two hours before the start of the show.

For example, if your show starts at 9.00am, please arrange access from 7.00am.

If reception isn't open, please let the site team know to expect us.

Next Step

3. Timings on the day

If you have booked more than one show in a day, please allow 45 minutes between shows for us to clean and reset the equipment.

Please have the hall set out with chairs with an aisle down the middle. (If chairs are not available, pupils can sit on the floor)

Next Step

IMPORTANT SAFETY BRIEF

The Chefs (Teachers and Pupils) will need to come to meet our host for a quick safety brief anytime before the show starts.

This is very important to keep everyone safe.

We will help the chefs understand the show and how to use our equipment safely. It is also a chance for any nervous chefs to get used to the set and to meet the host before the show.

During the safety brief, we will check for food allergies.

NOTE: Please let us know in advance if your schools has specific dietary requirements. For example, Halal.

Next Step

We will introduce the show, and our kitchen equipment to the Chefs.

Nervous chefs can talk to our host and get comfortable with the show.

We will check for food allergies.

4. After the Workshop

The show involves live cooking and does create washing up.

We don't expect you to do this, but please arrange access to washing up facilities, ideally in the canteen’s washing up area.

(we are trained Chefs, and fully trained on equipment use)

Next Step

SHARE, SHARE, SHARE!

Many of our bookings come from referrals or word of mouth.

We love that schools share The School Food Showdown experience with others!

We would be very grateful if you shared our show with others in Facebook Teacher Groups, or with other Schools.

Allergen safety statement

The ingredients we use in the workshop have been prepared to eliminate most common food allergens.

In the workshop we do not use milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, wheat, fish, shellfish, or sesame.

We do occasionally use Soy Sauce (Gluten free).

After the cooking part of the workshop we do ask for volunteers to test the food that has been cooked by the participants.

Before we give out tasters, the host will clearly say that if anyone has any allergies at all, that they do not taste the food.

Please be aware of any pupils with severe allergies.

If you have any questions regarding allergen safety, please do ask.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THESE IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS

SEE YOU SOON!
