FAQs
Our commonly asked questions. Please feel free to contact us though!
How many pupils can we have in each workshop?
We can have anywhere from 40 up to 200 pupils. The smaller the group, the more interactive the workshop gets!
We have pupils with allergies, how do you manage that?
The ingredients we use in the workshop have been prepared to eliminate most common food allergens.
In the workshop we do not use milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, wheat, fish, shellfish, or sesame. We do occasionally use Soy Sauce (Gluten free).
After the cooking part of the workshop we do ask for volunteers to test the food that has been cooked by the participants.
But, before we give out tasters, the presenter will clearly say that if anyone has any allergies at all, that they should not taste the food.
We also request that school staff be aware of any pupils with allergies, to keep things even safer.
What do the school need to provide?
Simply an assembly hall (or very large classroom), and somewhere we can wash up!
Shouldn't the School Food Showdown be more expensive?
Many schools we visit tell us that we should put our prices up, but our goal is to help as many pupils as possible embrace a healthy diet, and so we keep our prices affordable for all educational establishments.
Are you DBS checked?
Yes! All our presenters are DBS checked, and carry company ID with the DBS details, at all times.
Are you insured?
Absolutely, we have specialist Public Liability and Employers Liability insurance.
We need to write a funding bid, can you help?
Download PDFYes, of course! Please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have, or if you need any help.
